Belt Grading Colour System :
White to Black.
In many Martial Art Styles, a Red
Band is used to denote an Instructor
Grade.
Within the Okamido system you will see this Instructor
Insignia, the Red
Band worn across one end of the
Blackbelt.
If you see a Martial Artist wearing a Blackbelt
with two White Tags
across it, this represents them as a 2nd
Degree Blackbelt.
If you see a Martial Artist wearing a Blackbelt
that has three White
Tags across it, this represents
a 3rd Degree Blackbelt, etc..
etc...
( Please note, some Martial Art Styles use Gold
Tags on their Blackbelt to represent Dan
Grades, although the majority do use White Tags-
but again it is the same system).
To better understand the Ranking system, please
read the following chart from the bottom
of the page up to the top.

Notes
: Juniors under the age of 18
may only grade upto Brown Belt ( 3rd Kyu ) as
we do not believe in watering down a system, simply
to grade children, as commonly seen in other Martial
Arts Centres.
Notes : Shodan means
'First Level'. While 'Kyu' means 'step'. A student
progresses through steps towards the Shodan. When
they become a Shodan, they are still required
to train just as regularly and as hard as they
did when they were a Kyu grade, as holding a Shodan
( First Level ) is only the start of greater learning.
Notes : Other Martial
Arts Centres may quickly grade students
to Blackbelt simply for for financial gain charging
upwards of £ 250.00 per per per blackbelt
exam. This is not true of Warrington
Kickboxing Studio, as we do not charge
for the Blackbelt exam.
