Jul
18th:
3rd
event of the 2009 Season!
On Saturday 18th July, Warrington
Kickboxing Studio had a team seven kickboxers
scheduled to compete in Milton Keynes.
Paul Lomax, Andy
Harris, Mark Bryne, Rob Lightburn, Dean Hamilton,
Tristen Wright and Wendy
Ellis.
Unfortunately the opponents for all of the team
pulled out in the final days leading up to the
event.
Only Tristen Wright
and Wendy
Ellis were matched in the end,
which after several weeks of hard training was
very disappointing.
In order to be able to compete, Wendy
had to match against a much heavier girl from
Milton Keynes,
giving away several kilograms in weight. Her opponent,
Dawn Harden
also had experience on her side, as this was in
fact her fourth contest in comparison to this
being Wendy’s
debut.
Pict : Warrington's
Wendy Ellis in Action!

The contest was closely fought throughout and
Wendy
took the local girl the distance, losing by a
narrow point margins and putting in a proud performance
for Warrington.
Next up the Okami
Dojo - Wolf Gym had cruiserweight
kickboxer, Tristen
Wright, matched against Adam
Kanji, also of Milton
Keynes.
Tristen totally dominated this
contest throughout the three round bout with scores
winning with a final score of 107
– 67.
Tristens
record now moves to two wins from two contests.

Oct
24th:
5th event of the 2009 Season!
Warrington Kickboxing Studio had some cracking
results on Saturday 24th October
at an Amateur kickboxing event, hosted at the
Lowton Civic Hall by David Eckersley.
Middleweight Ste
Brotherston defeated Lee
Ashton of Leigh on points, 149
to 113.
Cruiserweight Tristan
Wright defeated Craig
Waterworth of Leigh by T.K.O in
round two.
Middleweight Andy
Harris defeated Ashley
Pilling of Leigh by T.K.O. in
round two.
Lightweight Stephanie
Hope defeated Claire
Readhead of Milton Keynes on points,
118 to 97.
Middleweight Rachael
Wolfenden defeated Marie
Dixon of Whitefield by T.K.O.
in round three.
Welterweight John
Papworth defeated Dean
Vincent of Urmston on points,
168 to 141.

Following these great results, there was an opportunity
for three Warrington Kickboxers to compete a second
time, as three opponents had not
shown up for their contests!
Ste Brotherston
defeated Mark
Foster of Leigh on points, 101
– 90
Tristen Wright defeated Rob
Cleworth by T.K.O.
Unfortunately for Andy
Harris, in his second contest
of the night was just pipped at the finish line,
losing a close contest on points top Konrad
Viluseu of Milton Keynes.
Joint headline bout on this event saw Warrington’s
Steve Martin in action against
Ged Copple
of Whitefield. This contest was neck and neck
throughout, and at the end of the third round
the match was a draw. Under the A.K.A. rules,
in the event of a draw, an extra round must be
contested. Martin
and Copple
again clashed, in a contest that had the whole
hall on its feet. Again, this went down to the
wire, with the final winner on points being Ged
Copple of Whitefield.
All of the Okami Dojo - Wolf Gym team, along with
several other Warrington Kickboxers, hope to next
compete in just five weeks time. This will be
on the final event of the 2009 season for the
Amateur Kickboxing Association of England, and
will be held on Saturday
28th November at the Urmston Leisure
centre in Manchester.
