Amateur Criteria 2009 - Regarding A.K.A. England Events.

Many different associations use various criteria to determine who is an Amateur fighter and who is a Professional Fighter.

For the 2009 season A.K.A. England will tighten it's criteria for all new competitors to the circuit, further enhancing its position as one of the safest Kickboxing formats available.

The following criteria will be adhered to regarding Amateur classification.

"A Professional bout will be classed as a martial arts / sporting contest that allows full-contact punches to the head without the players wearing headguards".

No new entries to the A.K.A. circuit will be allowed to compete on A.K.A. England events from the 1st January 2009 should they have had any Professional bouts.

Current A.K.A. players, that had a previous Pro. record ( under the newly introduced criteria ) before the rule came into effect, ( 1st January 2009 ) will be allowed to compete, only as long as since the new regulation was introduced ( 1st January 2009 ) they have not had a Professional contest - under A.K.A. England criteria.

Should an A.K.A. player have a professional bout, himself or his trainer must inform A.K.A. England.

Should you wish to discuss these changes with the A.K.A. please email Neil on narholden@aol.com.

Thankyou,

Neil Holden.
England coordinator.
