Kickboxing is known as 'The art of Striking', and Striking is regarded by many as the ultimate method of Combat.

There are various Kickboxing formats / styles around the World.

For example Japanese-Kickboxing ( K-1 ), Thai-Kickboxing ( Muaythai ), Chinese Kickboxing ( Sanda ), French-Kickboxing ( Savate ) and Burmese-Kickboxing ( Lethwei ) to name just several.

All of the styles use Kicking and Boxing techniques and all are grouped together under the generic term 'Kickboxing'.

Today Kickboxing is often referred to simply as 'Striking'.

The Wolf-Gym's Kickboxing system teaches Striking using Kicks, Punches, Knees, and Elbows.

These are the core techniques that are used in
'Ring-Sport' events under Japanese Kickboxing ( K-1 Rules ) and Thai-Kickboxing ( Muaythai Rules ).

As well as Striking techniques while standing, as seen in K-1 & Muaythai bouts the Wolf-Gym's Kickboxing syllabus also includes 'Split-Level-Striking' and 'Ground-Striking'.

These specialised methods are not taught at most Kickboxing gyms as the majority of clubs only focus on the 'Ring-Sport' and their specifically preferred ruleset
, ( K-1 or Muaythai ).

'Split-Level-Striking' is when one person is at Standing level and their opponent is at Grounded level.

'Ground-Striking' is when both persons are on the floor, and is often referred to as 'Ground-&-Pound'.

These techniques are often seen utilised in competitions under Mixed-Martial-Arts rules, such as the UFC ( Ultimate Fighting Championship ).

'Cage-Kickboxing', ( Kickboxing in the Cage ) is also referred to as MMA-Striking, ( Striking for M.M.A. ).

The techniques of 'Split-Level-Striking' and 'Ground-Striking' are also taught for Self-Defence situations, under the name of 'Combat-Kickboxing'.

Any club that does not cover 'Split-Level-Striking' and 'Ground-Striking' should never advertise that they teach Self-Defence.

When training in a style for Self-Defence, knowledge and skills taught should cover both the Combat ranges of Standing and Grounded as you never know how a situation may turn out.

The most important fight anyone could win is not one that rewards you with a medal or a trophy, but one that either changes your life or even saves your life.

The Wolf-Gym's Black Belt system covers Striking that can be applied to all four of the main Kickboxing formats.

Japanese-Kickboxing ( K-1 Rules ) - Ring

Thai-Kickboxing ( Muaythai Rules ) - Ring

Cage-Kickboxing ( MMA-Striking ) - Cage

Combat-Kickboxing ( Striking for Self-Defence ) - Street.

Our winning system has produced a combined total of over 35 Champions under Muaythai, K-1 and MMA rules. Two of our Champions have even won World Titles, one of which also won Warrington Sports Personality of the year 2007.

We have also had more than 50 members gain the coveted Black Belt.

These are outstanding achievements for any Martial Arts Academy!
