To
many people, 'Muay-Thai'
is just a Combat-Sport, and they have no interest
in it's heritage, that is the Martial-Art of 'Muay-Boran'.
Muay translates as 'Fighting'.
Boran translates as 'Traditional'.
Some teachers do respect the heritage, and keep
the techniques alive through running a Grading
syllabus within their school.
The leading organisation
in the world for promoting Muay-Boran, ( sometimes
referred to as Muay-Thai-Boran ), is the Kru Muaythai
Association. ( K.M.A. ).
The following lists the Instructor ranking in
stages, from Trainer ( Kru
) to Teacher ( Arjarn
).
For those Arjarn that dedicate a lifelong career
to teaching, there are further titles that maybe
achieved, upto Senior Grand-Master ( Bram-Arjarn-Yai
)..
Neil Holden is very proud that his teacher, Senior
Grand-Master Sken, ( at the age of 67 ),
is one of only a handful that has achieved this
title.
